Why MetaDefender?

That's why our advanced threat prevention platform, MetaDefender, is not only based on detection.

MetaDefender uses OPSWAT's unique deep content disarm and reconstruction (Deep CDR) to remove threats from files altogether by reconstructing the files and, in the process, stripping out potentially malicious active content and scripts. MetaDefender complements deep content disarm and reconstruction with multiscanningfile-based vulnerability assessment and proactive data loss prevention (Proactive DLP)

Why MetaAccess?
The move by enterprises to cloud computing, SaaS applications, and bring your own device (BYOD) environments over the last decade has eliminated the traditional network perimeter, making most network access control (NAC) solutions obsolete.

To meet the challenges of modern cloud-based environments and provide administrators with an access control solution for the cloud, we built MetaAccess. MetaAccess keeps SaaS applications and cloud data safe and secure. It allows access based on device health and compliance to help administrators block risky devices from connecting to sensitive cloud data and SaaS applications.

Benny Czarny

Founder and CEO

Benny Czarny is the Founder and CEO of OPSWAT, a leading cyber security firm with over 1,000 customers, 200 employees, and 9 offices worldwide. Founded with personal investment in 2002 to offer a unique, market-driven approach to security application design and development, OPSWAT has been breaking new ground in the field of cyber security for more than 15 years. Benny has over 20 years of experience in successfully identifying market needs and building, marketing, and selling innovative cloud-based cyber security products and solutions. From the early days of computer viruses, he was interested and involved in the fields of encryption, network operations, and security vulnerabilities detection and research. Prior to founding OPSWAT, Benny held technical leadership positions at NetManage, Netect and BindView. Benny earned a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from the Technion-Machon Technologi Le' Israel.

Patrick Tan

Chief Revenue Officer

Patrick Tan joined OPSWAT in 2010 and drives the company's operations towards continuous improvements, effectiveness, and efficiencies. Patrick manages the company's activities in finance, accounting, human resources, and operations. Patrick brings expertise in organizational development and administration, accounting systems, internal controls, financial and tax reporting, cash management, and human capital retention and development. Prior to joining OPSWAT, Patrick held management positions at Ensenta Corporation, Ramsell Corporation, Dorado Corporation, and the Defense Contract Audit Agency. Patrick earned a Bachelor's degree from Humboldt State University and a Masters of Business Administration degree from the California State University, East Bay.

Taeil Goh


Taeil Goh is CTO at OPSWAT and has over 12 years of Software Engineering experience primarily in cybersecurity, delivering enterprise products to high-security industries such as government, military, critical infrastructure, and finance. His main focus is on leading the engineering team but he also takes on other roles including CISO, cloud architect, UX design, and DevOps. His current cybersecurity focus is on content disarm and reconstruction (CDR), DLP, dynamic analysis, static analysis, security analytics, email security, web security, and APT detection. Taeil Goh is a regular speaker at cybersecurity events and contributor to OPSWAT blogs. Taeil earned his Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from San Francisco State University. Tom Mullen

Senior Vice President of Business Development

Tom Mullen joined OPSWAT in 2004 and manages technical partnerships and legal activities for the company. Tom brings expertise in negotiating transactions with and managing on-going programs for vendors, customers, alliance & channel partners as well as acquisition targets. Prior to joining OPSWAT, Tom practiced law and held management positions in sales, marketing and business development at Apple Computer, CNET Networks (now CBS Interactive) and GreenBorder Technologies (now Google). Tom earned a Bachelor’s degree from Stanford University and a law degree from the University of California, Hastings College of Law.

Dan Lanir

Vice President of Customer Success

Dan Lanir joined OPSWAT as Director of Professional Services and Support in early 2012. Dan is responsible for developing and growing the company's global-class technical support and professional services business. Prior to joining OPSWAT, Dan worked at Oracle for 19 years, where he held leadership positions in both services and support with responsibilities that included running complex multi-location software deployment projects, directing global support desks, and managing domestic and international customer relationships. Dan holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California, Los Angeles School of Engineering.

Simon Ho


With over 30 years of experience in the technology industry, Simon has held financeleadership roles ranging from venture/PE-backed startups to mid-markets to large enterprises. Throughout his career, Simon has experienced explosive growth with many prominent technology companies including Sun Microsystems, Oracle and McAfee. Prior to joining OPSWAT, Simon was the Chief Financial Officer of a data analytics company, where he led the company to raise $75M in funding and drove the transformation of the company’s business model from a tech-enabled solution to SaaS. Simon holds an MBA from the University of Michigan and a BA from the University of California, Berkeley.

Yiyi Miao

Senior Vice President of Products

Yiyi Miao joined OPSWAT in 2009 as a Software Engineer in the company's Research & Development Engineering Team. Yiyi started managing the Product Engineering and Product Management teams since 2017 and is responsible for the overall product design, engineering, and delivery processes. Yiyi earned a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering from Shanghai University in China and a Master's degree in Computer Science from San Francisco State University.

Dave Deasy

Chief Marketing Officer

Dave joined OPSWAT in February 2020 and leads global marketing, including product marketing, demand generation, digital marketing, sales development, analyst relations, and media relations. Prior to joining OPSWAT, Dave was CMO at TrustArc, a leader in data privacy compliance management where he helped transform the company from a services company into a high growth SaaS business. Significant accomplishments at TrustArc included leading a company rebrand, launching a market-leading technology platform, and raising a $70M PE investment. Dave is a proven marketing and business executive with extensive experience building high growth tech businesses at F-500s (HP and AOL) and late-stage SaaS start-ups (MarketTools – acquired by SurveyMonkey). He has a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh and an MBA from Carnegie Mellon University.

Cuong La

Vice President of Research and Development in Vietnam

Cuong La joined OPSWAT in March 2018 as General Manager of OPSWAT Vietnam where he is responsible for the overall operations and helps grow R&D and Engineering capability of OPSWAT in Vietnam. Cuong brings his 25 years of experience in software development, strategic direction, operational excellence and leadership to the Company. Before joining OPSWAT, Cuong was the founder and CEO of software product company Eragram, and was with Luxoft for 9 years as the Managing Director of Luxoft Vietnam. Cuong is a graduate of University of IT, Vietnam National University in Ho Chi Minh City and holds an MBA from the Open University Malaysia.

Csaba Litkei

GM of Hungary Office

Csaba Litkei joined OPSWAT in 2017 as Engineering Manager in Veszprém. From 2019 Csaba is responsible for the operations of the Hungarian OPSWAT's office.
Before joining OPSWAT, Csaba led a Sensor-software development team at Continental, worked for Flextronics as AOI and X-Ray engineer and for IBM as a Send-ahead engineer. Csaba is a founder of an R&D company called Explora and led many successful technological projects. Csaba has more than 15 years of experience in R&D project engineering, QA and management.
Csaba holds a Master's degree from the University of Pannonia.

Alin Besnea

GM of Romania Office, Director of Engineering

Alin Besnea joined OPSWAT as a Software Engineer in 2015. Alin is responsible for the client aspect of OPSWAT's Cloud Access Security project and is in charge of the operations of OPSWAT's office in Romania. Prior to joining OPSWAT, Alin held engineering and leadership positions in gaming companies and was the cofounder of 2o.com, a game studio known for the multiplayer game Blast Busters. Alin earned his Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science at the Polytechnic University of Timisoara.

Laura Ellis

VP Sales, Secure Access

Laura has joined the OPSWAT team from Impulse with the SafeConnect solution, a leading provider of Network Access Control and Software Defined Perimeter. These solutions complement and extend the zero trust capabilities offerings. Laura is leading the sales for Secure Access globally, including it’s direct sales, account management, channels and sales / operations teams. Laura brings 25+ years of experience with extensive knowledge in the fields of IT, Networking and Security. Prior to joining OPSWAT, Laura held executive leadership positions at NetWolves (now VasoMedical) and at IBM. In her long career at IBM, she led both technical and sales teams across many areas in the IT industry, evolving to a focus on cloud, networking and security. Laura earned her Bachelor’s degree and MBA from the University of Georgia.

Russell Miller

VP of Product, Secure Access

Russell Miller joined OPSWAT recently as part of the acquisition of Impulse where he was the CTO. He joins OPSWAT as the Vice President of Products, Secure Access. In this role, Russell is leading the technology effort to offer a broader zero trust solution to OPSWAT's customers leveraging Impulse's "trust no network" capabilities and know-how. Before joining Impulse in 2014, Russell worked at SunView Software where he was the co-founder and CTO. Prior to co-founding SunView, Russell was a technology leader for a number of software companies including Intuit, Quark, and IBM. Russell has a master's degree in Computer Science from Northern Illinois University.

Hamid Karimi

VP Technology Alliances & OEM

Hamid Karimi joined OPSWAT in July 2018 and oversees technology alliances, inbound and outbound OEM sales and access control certification program. Prior to joining OPSWAT, Hamid held product management, marketing and business development positions at several cybersecurity companies including Bitdefender and Fortinet. Hamid started his career as a consulting engineer at SCO and after joining 3Com in 1995, laid the foundation for the first development of 802.1X standard, a technology widely used in network access solutions. He has been both a participant and contributor to industry standards such as IEEE, IETF and TCG. Hamid holds Bachelor’s degrees in computer and electrical engineering from SFSU.

Alessandro Porro

Vice President, Global Channels

Alessandro has successfully led Global Channels in the IT/Software industry throughout the last 20 years.
Most recently, Alessandro spent the last several years at Ipswitch, Inc., building a highly productive worldwide ecosystem that consistently attained upwards of 30% annual growth with high profitability, culminating in an acquisition by Progress Software Corp. in early 2019.
Upon such, Alessandro was then invited by Progress to lead their $ 300m/year global channel, where he delivered 113% target attainment from March 2019 through June 2020.
